I have done a number of leadership courses and retreats in the past but I was particularly keen to do this one because of the unique setting in a remote environment, free from digital distractions and surrounded by our hopefully soon to be new equine friends! I was seeking something different from the usual to be found in an office or hotel setting.
The couple of days met and indeed exceeded all of my expectations. It was wonderful to be able to disconnect from the day to day and to be able to focus in on the core topics of leadership and my own style. And the more you immerse yourself, the more the horses draw you away from the noise and ground you in an awareness of your own leadership style.


The experience was full of learning experiences. But most important of all was the fact that the setting takes you out of your business setting comfort zone and isolates those aspects of your leadership that need attention. It is an experience rich in authentic interactions with both people and horses and with lots of opportunities to receive direct and indirect feedback on your interactions and style. Critical to making a success of the time there is to understand that the more you put into those interactions, the more you will get out of the experience.


The whole setup is designed to disrupt your normal patterns and preferences but in a really good way. Everything from the itinerary for the course to the accommodation. We stayed in Justine’s yurt which was a hugely valuable addition to the experience. And we benefitted from the wonderful hospitality of Justine and her family in everything from whiskey tasting to professional standard, home cooked food of the highest order.
So a big thank you to Justine and family for welcoming me into their home. But most especially, a big thank you to the horses – you are the real stars in this! I cannot recommend this experience enough to anyone who wants an immersive and challenging leadership development experience."
